Kaap Willemsduin - Observation point

Kaap Willemsduin stands in the east of Schiermonnikoog, in one of the most unspoilt parts of the National Park. This wooden beacon is a landmark in a quiet and vast dune landscape.
What can you expect at Kaap Willemsduin?
- A historic beacon: The beacon was built as a landmark for sailors and as a survey point for mapmakers. Those functions have gone, but the beacon has remained as a striking point in the landscape.
- Wide views: From the beacon you look out over the dunes and the North Sea on the eastern side of the island.
- Peace and space: You are far from the village here, in an area where wind, sand and birds set the tone.
- Careful management: Natuurmonumenten maintains the beacon, together with the nearby Kaap Kobbeduinen.
Practical information
- Access: Kaap Willemsduin lies in a remote spot in the eastern part of Schiermonnikoog and can only be reached on foot.
